What is Tang Sancai?
Tang Sancai, literally “Tang three colors,” is a celebrated lead-glazed earthenware born in the golden age of the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD). Despite its name, its palette is anything but limited — flowing amber, green and cream glazes melt across the surface to create the richly mottled effect collectors admire. Famed above all for its horses, Tang Sancai is regarded as one of the peaks of Chinese ceramic art.
