ABOUT THE WORK
The Relief Studies leave painting behind and become objects. Two grey gesso planes sit proud of a sand-coloured board; a single olive batten divides them and throws a hard shadow that moves with the light.
It is the most minimal thing the studio makes, and the easiest to live with: one plane, one line, one shadow.
